Impex Tube India’s Stainless Steel 440C Pipes consist mainly of high carbon (approximately 1.0–1.2%) and high chromium (16–18%), which are responsible for their high hardness and corrosion resistance. This martensitic stainless steel has the greatest hardness of all stainless grades when heat-treated, with tensile strength up to 760 MPa. It is very hard and wear-resistant but has moderate corrosion resistance in mild environments. Its mechanical properties are good strength, good edge retention, and limited ductility. 440C is magnetic under all conditions and finds its best application in hardened and tempered condition for maximum performance in severe mechanical environments.
