Stainless Steel 446 Tubing is a chromium ferritic stainless steel that contains about 23–27% chromium, low carbon, and trace amounts of molybdenum and silicon. The alloy exhibits excellent resistance to high-temperature oxidation, sulfidation, and scaling. Mechanically, it has moderate tensile strength (approximately 415–585 MPa) and good creep resistance at high temperatures. Although less ductile than austenitic grades, 446 exhibits superior structural stability and corrosion resistance in strongly oxidizing conditions. It also resists thermal fatigue and maintains strength under cyclic heating and is thus suitable for furnace and high-temperature processing equipment.
