409L Stainless Steel Tubing is ferritic stainless steel with low carbon content, having chromium (10.5–11.75%) and the lowest possible amount of carbon content (up to 0.03%), small amounts of manganese, silicon, and titanium or niobium for stabilization purposes. The mentioned composition enhances intergranular corrosion resistance and weldability. It has moderate mechanical properties such as tensile strength of 380–450 MPa and yield strength of 170–240 MPa. SS 409L also possesses good resistance to ductility and oxidation at higher temperatures, and hence is ideal to be used in thermal cycling processes. Having a stable structure and easy fabrication, it is a convenient material to form and weld in different kinds of environments.
