Stainless Steel 904L Heat Exchanger Tubing is manufactured from a high-alloy austenitic stainless steel with an approximate composition of 20% chromium, 25% nickel, 4.5% molybdenum, and 1.5% copper. This alloy provides better corrosion resistance, particularly against acids such as sulfuric, phosphoric, and acetic acids. The tube has excellent mechanical properties such as high tensile strength (maximum of 490 MPa), good ductility, and better resistance against pitting and stress corrosion cracking. It retains its strength and integrity at elevated temperatures and pressure and is thus best suited for uninterrupted heat transfer processes. Also, 904L has good weldability and formability, providing long-term and effective performance in severe environments.
