Hastelloy boiler tubes consist primarily of nickel with varying amounts of molybdenum, iron, chromium, cobalt, and other materials depending on the grade (for instance, Hastelloy C-276 or C-22). Such composition has excellent resistance to corrosion, especially in extreme chemical and high-temperature environments. Hastelloy tubes have good tensile strength, high ductility, and fatigue resistance in a mechanical sense. Typical characteristics are tensile strength of about 690 MPa, yield strength of 283 MPa, and elongation of up to 40%. These characteristics render Hastelloy suitable for severe boiler applications in aggressive conditions of service.
